How long does it take to get a cheque from paypal, if you are based in a Asian Country ?
Q. If I ask a friend / a business associate to make the payment via Paypal , how long does it take to receive a cheque delivered to you at your door step . Paypal insists that it takes 5-6 business days to process the cheque , and this doesn't time taken to deliver the cheque at your doorstep. If you are based in China or Nepal , how long will it take you cheque from paypal ? Is paypal worth it ?

What will the bank do with a credited and now canceled cheque?
Q. So, I received a cheque for a sum of $800. I banked it yesterday afternoon. When I got home I found a email from the cheque writer saying there was a printing error, all the cheques had been canceled and will be re-issued in 72 hours. Today I checked my bank account and the cheque has been cleared and credited? What do you think will happen?
Asked by No Name Brand - Tue Jan 13 20:51:26 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Within a period of time, the bank will probably receive the cancellation and deduct the $800 from your account balance.. Just because it looks like it cleared, doesn't always mean it totally did.. So be prepared to cover the check you deposited.. I had this happen to me..

What is the difference between a certified cheque and a regular cheque?
Q. What is the difference between a certified cheque and a regular cheque?
Asked by Jonathan N - Sun Jan 21 02:17:02 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. a check is something anyone can write from their account, with or without having the funds necessary. checks often "bounce" because of there not being enough funds in their bank account. people can also stop payment on a regular check. a certified check is a government document issued by a bank. there is a fee for this. the bank is actually certifying to the payee that there is enough funds in your account to cover this. this takes priority over regular checks being cashed. you cannot cancel a certified check or make a stop payment.

Once an insurance company encashes my premium cheque, from when should the risk start?
Q. I have issued a cheque towards first year premium along with the proposal for insurance. The cheque dated the first of the month has been encashed by the insurance company on the third of the month. But they have issued the insurance policy only on the 19th of the month with the date of starting of risk shown as the 22nd of the month. As my cheque for the premium amount has been encashed on the third of the month itself, is not the insurance company liable to cover the risk from the date of encashment of the cheque? Does not the encashment of my cheque and crediting it to the insurance company's account signify that they have accepted the risk from that date itself?
Asked by ncpadmanabhan - Mon Oct 1 09:37:15 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are guidelines given with each quote that state when the coverage will begin. The fact that they cashed your check unfortunately does not mean that coverage has started. If you think this should be a different date then review the information given to you when quoted and see what the stipulations are. Good luck!

Is it tacky to include a cheque in a bat mitzvah reply card when not attending?
Q. My husband and I can't attend the the bat mitzvah of a student of mine, as we'll be out of state. We want to give her a gift, but want to know if a cheque for $72 is appropriate (multiple Chai) with the reply card or should we send it in a separate card? Or should we send cash?
Asked by cpprpenny - Tue Sep 9 15:04:16 2008 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well if you are going to physically give it to him, then you should give cash in a separate card not with the reply letter. But if you are going to send it to him in the mail you should send a check just to be safe but it should still be in a separate card.

Q. I bought a 2 wheeler using finance. They take my money from my bank by ECS method without interruption on monthly basis. Now they have deposited my cheque also given for security reasons . Now i have to run post to pillar to get statements from bank supporting the same and submit it to finance company and beg behind them .. This affects my work in a greater way. Shall I approach consumer court ? How I will be benefited ?
Asked by Kavitha - Thu Dec 10 04:53:26 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. it depends on which jurisdiction you're talking about.. usually the courts do not differentiate between security checks and ordinary checks as they are the same.. the check is not considered a tool of credit, and thus the finance company has the right to deposit it anytime without requesting your approval. but again as i said, it depends on your jurisdiction.

A. There are numerous "check cashing places" all over your neighborhood. Open phone book - yellow pages for your area. and look up - check cashing Service. All of them will charge you a fee. Just call them up and compare their fees then pick the one you feel gives you the best deal. Your only other options are to take the check to Canada and cash it or send it back to the sender and ask for Paypal payment..

What and where do I find the cheque number on a cheque?
Q. Also, on a cheque what is ''Memo''? is it optional? and is the /100 thing cents?
Asked by J.-Lynn C. - Fri Jul 4 21:41:09 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The check number appears on the upper right hand side AND also the end of the series of numbers on the lower left, just after the routing number. They will match up. Upper right and the end of the group of numbers on the lower left. The memo, is just a note you can write with a specific purpose. I generally use checks for paying my rent and utilities. When paying my utilities, I write my account number on the memo line. When paying rent, I'll write "July 2008 rent". This is just a specific as to what the check is being used for. You can leave it blank if you so choose. and the / 100 cents? Yes Write the amount out, e.g. If you are writing out a check for $87.50, you would spell it out: Eighty Seven & 50/100 --- It's always good to draw… [cont.]
